چکیده
Aims: The effects of exogenously applied salicylic acid (SA) on gas exchange characteristics, photosynthetic pigments and chloroplast ultrastructure were investigated in gerbera at their reproductive stage under salt-stressed conditions.
Methodology: A pot experiment was conducted glasshouse conditions the Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, (30° N/120° E) between February 2008 March 2009.Plants, pretreated with foliar applications 0, 0.5, 1.0 mmoldm-3 SA onset flower initiation irrigated 100 mmoldm-3NaCl(aq) for two weeks, starting after three days from pretreatment. Control did not receive either NaCl or SA.Photosynthetic rate, exchange, content against treatments. All data subjected to analysis variance (ANOVA) Generalized Linear Model (GLM) using SAS statistical software. Pearson’s correlation test carried out study relationships among parameters. means compared Duncan’s multiple range (DMRT). For all tests, P< .05 considered statistically significant.
Results: Salt stress adversely affected pigment contents ultrastructure. application significantly increased net photosynthesis, stomatal conductivity, intra-cellular CO2 transpiration rate but decreased limitation, those untreated plants. Further, enhanced notably undamaged evident ameliorative system salt stress. Of concentrations tested, 0.5 concentration seemed have greater effect throughout showing no significant variation control some attributes (chlorophyll ultrastructure).
Conclusion: Responses plants spraying them plausibly suggest SA-induced enhancement as another target conferring tolerance crop

Alleviation of Adverse Effects of Copper on Allium cepa L. by Exogenous Ascorbic Acid Application
Abstract In this study ameliorative effects of ascorbic acid (0.5 mM) on onion (Allium cepa L. cv. Red Azarshahr) under copper stress (Cu: 6.5 μM) were studied. Fresh weights of leaves and roots were reduced in seven week old plants under excess copper condition. Cu stress also reduced membrane stability index in leaves. There was a considerable increase in H2O2 content and lipid peroxidation i...
متن کاملAlleviation of Drought Stress Effects by Exogenous Application of Spermidine and Salicylic Acid on Hollyhock (Alcea rosea)
Drought is one of the most important environmental factors limiting the cultivation of ornamental plants in the green space. The effects of spermidine and salicylic acid on hollyhock (Alcea rosea L.)under drought stress were investigated. At first, the plants were sprayed with 3 doses of spermidine and 3 doses of salicylic acid (control, 100, 200 and 400 μM) for three consecut...
متن کاملAlleviation of Osmotic Stress Effects by Exogenous Application of Salicylic or Abscisic Acid on Wheat Seedlings
The aim of the study was to assess the role of salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA) in osmotic stress tolerance of wheat seedlings. This was accomplished by determining the impact of the acids applied exogenously on seedlings grown under osmotic stress in hydroponics. The investigation was unique in its comprehensiveness, examining changes under osmotic stress and other conditions, and t...
متن کاملalleviation of salinity effects by exogenous applications of salicylic acid in sugarcane (saccharum officinarum l.) seedlings
introduction abiotic stresses cause 71% reduction in crop yield around the world, from which 20% is related to salinity stress. the importance of sugarcane increases every day due to greater demand for sugar. since sugarcane has mainly grown in arid and semi-arid regions, salinity is one of the main problems for this crop due to higher evaporation in these areas. salicylic acid (sa) is classifi...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF SALT AND IRRADIANCE STRESS ON PHOTOSYNTHETIC PIGMENTS AND PROTEINS IN DUNALIELLA SALINA TEODORESCO
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of salinity and light intensity on the chlorophylls, ?-carotene and protein contents in Dunaliella salina Teod. The algae were grown in inorganic medium containing 0, 0.9, 1.8 (control), 2.6 and 3.5 M NaCl under three illumination regimens [4500 (control), 9000 and 11000 Lux]. The results showed that most electrophoresis protein bands were separa...
